If you’re like 50% of the population of the globe you live in a city environment. Many of us enjoy getting out of the city for a while to recharge our batteries. If your like me you may have become somewhat dependant on what the city has to offer and can feel torn about leaving it all behind for a trip to the back country.
As a vacation desitination on its own, Calgary, Alberta is not the means to an end. However this growing “cow town” in Canada’s western provinces is less then an hour to some of the country’s best skiing, hiking and climbing adventures.
An hour drive takes you to Banff and there you will find are some wonderful day hikes, pristine mountain views.
I highly recommend stopping in Canmore as well and checking out some of the local trails. The skill levels range from brisk walking to expert climbers only.
I’m not much of a skier myself, however a nice day on the mountain if just the thing I need every now and then. It’s great to know you can be back in time for a show.
You don’t need to be in the middle of nowhere to forget all about the rat race.
